This note will be a list of things to keep in mind when building the hackathon management platform.

The main goal: To make the hackathon more interactive and fun for the attendees.

Interaction improvement activities

  • Make a meme in 5 minutes challenge
  • Kahoot Quiz challenge
  • Slido (or any other interactive slide software to keep the speaker sessions engaging)
  • Mini treasure hunt for extra merch

Why do we need a hackathon management platform?

  • To have them register to this platform and join the hackathon, for the OC to track their progress
  • To have a complete wiki of resources for the participants to be able to use them to build their application according to the sponsor track specs (planning to build this part with Quartz because it is super quick)
  • A timer that ticks down to the end of the hackathon, to be displayed on the big screen and in the screens of the participants
  • The timeline of the events, from the speaker sessions to the meal times
  • To have a platform for them to submit their progress so the team can look at them and grade them (something like the 0xHacking platform that Hacker House Goa had)
  • To have a leaderboard for the teams to rank in, so that they get motivated to rise up the ranks (requires the consensus of a unified point allocation framework)
  • To have an interface for them to access the stage resources (from the minigames to the links the speakers may want to share to the audience)
  • To let them download theirs and their team’s images at the end of the hackathon (planning to use Kwikpic for this)

The goal is to bring together all of these features in a single web application (web2 or web3) with engaging UI animations and responsiveness (optional though. the users are mostly on their laptops)
